Members of Federal House of Representatives Committee on Health Institutions Visit NOHIL
The Members of the Federal House of Representatives Committee on Health Institutions on Monday, 18th July, 2022 visited National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos (NOHIL) to evaluate the performance of the 2022 Appropriation and discuss issues affecting the smooth running of the Hospital.
The Medical Director, Dr. Mustapha Faiz Alimi gave an overview of the Hospital's activities and its challenges. He stated that the Hospital has continued to expand its scope of services to other sub-specialties in Orthopaedics such as Arthroplasty (Total Hip & Knee Replacement Surgery), Arthroscopy, Oncology/Microvascular Surgery, Spine Surgery and Paediatric Orthopaedic Services. He added that the Hospital is well equipped to provide premium services to high profile clients. Speaking on the challenges facing the Hospital , Dr. Alimi lamented on the high cost of diesel, erratic power supply and high manpower turnover. He explained that these three major challenges are affecting the service delivery of the Hospital. The Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Pascal Obi commended the Hospital Management for the achievements recorded within the year. He promised to address the issue of brain drain with other members of the Federal House of Representatives.
